NFC West Wrap Up
By Staff
So after 8 weeks, who would have thought the NFC West would look like this. All I ever heard this off season was the buzz about the San Francisco 49ers and their great moves in the offseason and how they were now ready to challenge the Seattle Seahawks in the west. Well, after 5 straight losses, I think the Niners are once again entering the race for a top 5 draft pick. The Seahawks? Well, they were on a bye this week just like us, but I was at that game on September 16 and I can definately tell you that their time being on top is coming to an end. And the Rams? Well……we already know about them don’t we. Here’s how the division looks right now:
Standings
1. Seattle Seahawks (4-3) Next 3 games: @ Cleveland, San Francisco, Chicago
2. Arizona Cardinals (3-4) Next 3 games: @ Tampa Bay, Detroit, @ Cincinnatti
3. San Francisco 49ers (2-5) Next 3 games: @ Atlanta, @ Seattle, St. Louis
4. St. Louis Rams (0-8) Next 3 games: Bye, @ New Orleans, @ San Francisco
Now I would say our next 3 games put us in a much more difficult position because none of them come against division opponents. The Rams are done for the year, the Niners are still in a position to hurt us, and the Hawks have the lead for now. Right now, we just need to focus on winning our games and not depending on others to help our cause, and that’s fine by me.
Bottom Line: In the NFC West, we still control our own destiny when it comes to winning this division and that is something we haven’t been able to say since we got moved here in 2002.
