Some of our more loyal readers may remember a post that I wrote during week 2 in the NFL entitled: Karlos Dansby: Remember the Name!! After his performance on Sunday, I don’t think I’ll have to remind you again. The fourth year Arizona Cardinals linebacker out of Auburn University was everywhere on the field, causing three turnovers and registering 4 tackles (two for a loss), two interceptions and one forced fumble! And now he’s been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week!
DAMN that’s impressive….
This was Dansby’s first game back after missing 3 weeks with a knee sprain injury. He made a statement on Sunday: PAY ME MY MONEY! Karlos is in the final year of his contract with the Cards and GM Rod Graves is definately intent on bringing him back to the Big Red. It was obvious to me how much this team missed him on the field, after suffering through three straight losses without him in the lineup. Now he will lead this unit and its crop of rising stars (DT Darnell Dockett and ILB Gerald Hayes are having monster years) along with incumbent Pro Bowl Safety Adrian Wilson against a very beatable opponent in the Cincinnatti Bengals, but we’ll talk about that later on this week.
For now let’s just be thankful to have the playmaker back on defense! But on a disappointing note, Cards DE/OLB Bertrand Berry was lost for the season for the third straight year after suffering a torn tricep muscle against the Lions on Sunday. This is the third straight kind of freak injury he has suffered, and will press LB Darryl Blackstock and DE Joe Tafoya into service to pick up the slack. It’s a tough loss, losing Chike and Bertrand in the same year, but this unit is strong and Blackstock was solid in relief duty of Berry. Oh well, that’s football right? Any given Sunday……aww you know the rest.
