Are Warner’s Days Over in AZ?

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals are definately not where they wanted to be at the end of the season. 7-8 (with a chance to go 8-8) is a far cry from the playoff aspirations this team had coming into the 2007 campaign. In what was supposed to a year from the sidelines for Warner, a series of extremely chaotic events brought him back to center stage once again. It’s been a pretty bumpy ride for him so far, so here’s a quick timeline for Warner’s stint in AZ:
- 2005:
Cards sign Kurt Warner to 1 year deal [...]

Still Got Some Pride

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, they made it look difficult against a really bad team, but a win is a win. And right now, with a chance to go 8-8 and take some momentum into the off season, the Arizona Cardinals have to be happy with their 4th quarter rally and eventual overtime victory over the floundering Atlanta Falcons.
It seems like there is a winning formula in the type of game they played on Sunday:
1. No turnovers.
Not one fumble or interception. Cards QB Kurt Warner was on fire, throwing for 361 yards and 3 TDs. The key was he [...]

Bye Bye Playoffs……

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Whatever slim chances the Arizona Cardinals had to still make the playoffs this year evaporated with Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota’s victory over Chicago on MNF. Thanks to the Bears horribly putrid offense (13 points off of 4 Vikings turnovers), the Cards were eliminated from the discussion as they cannot finish with a better record than the Vikes.
So how do we look at this year? What do we have left to play for?
How about the first non-losing season in 10 years, and the first season with more than 7 wins in 9 years!! [...]

Week 15 Playbook: Special Teams

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

One of the most important aspects of the game and certainly the most overlooked aspect of the game is special teams. Special teams play dictates field position, which dictates scoring drives, which dictates the pace of the game, and on and on and on……
Trust me, special teams are critical, and they will play a big role for each team tomorrow.
Arizona Cardinals:
It might be the understatement of the year to say that Cards PK Neil Rackers has struggled a little bit this year. After setting an NFL record in 2005 making 40 out of 42 FGs (a FG% rate [...]

Week 15 Playbook: Defense

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Now let’s take a look and breakdown the team’s defenses for Sunday’s showdown.
Arizona Cardinals:
The Cards come into the game with the #14 ranked defense in the league. They are ranked 3rd with 32 takeaways on the season and still allow less than 100 yards per game rushing. In 13 games they have only allowed two 100 yard rushers and have forced opponents to go 3-and-out 38 times, good enough for 8th in the league. But the thinnest part of the defense is secondary, where starters Eric Green and Adrian Wilson have been lost for the season due [...]

Week 15 Playbook: Offense

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today we are going to break down each team’s offense for this weekend’s CRITICAL, MUST-WIN matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints. Simply put, the winner of this game will still have a shot at the playoffs, the loser is out.
So how do the teams stack up?
Arizona Cardinals:
Head coach Ken Whisenhunt and Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley have really opened up the passing game over the last 5 weeks, with Kurt Warner posting three games with over 300 yards passing and 2+ TDs in that timespan. But where this team can truly thrive is if it [...]

Saints Lose PK for Season, Sign One of Those Grammatica Guys

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

New Orleans Saints PK Olindo Mare was placed on injured reserve by the team on yesterday, ending his 2007 campaign. They immediately went out and signed career journeyman Martin Grammatica to the roster.
I think this is freakin great! Martin Grammatica has absolutely no elevation on his kicks, leading to many blocked field goals and extra points. I remember watching a game a few years ago when he was with the Bucs down in Tampa, he had 2 extra points blocked in that game, and the Bucs lost to the Panthers 16-15. It was terrible.
Hopefully that ineptness [...]

Cards Depleted For Their Stretch Run

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well on Sunday the Arizona Cardinals lost another starter to a season ending injury when TE Leonard Pope went down with a dislocated ankle. That brings the total number of starters on the roster lost to injury up to seven, SEVEN STARTERS!!
Every one of these guys is a huge, HUGE contributor to the Cards gameplan. Allow me to explain what each of these guys brought to the table:
1. Oliver Ross, OT – torn triceps (Preseason)
Ross had worked his way back into the starting lineup under his old coach from Pittsburgh, Russ Grimm. He was set at [...]

Fantasy Football: It’s Playoff Time Baby!

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well here we are, it’s the playoffs!!
As we who are in the league know, there were 10 teams but only 8 playoff spots. Unfortunately, the might Tight Ends and my TJ Howsyurvanillas did not make the cut and are playing in the loser’s bracket. I ended up there by losing 5 straight, DAMN!
But that’s ok, I actually have TWO TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE! HA HA! And my other team is none other than Kobra Kai, the #2 ranked team. Here’s how the playoffs are set to begin:
#1 BengalKILL0605 vs. #8 DC Fingerbangers
#4 The Fantastic Fitzgeralds [...]
