Iwebema Has Tumor Removed

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Kenny Iwebema had an NFL mandated physical in March.  What was found as part of that exam, in the x-ray, was what turned out to be a benign tumor the size of a baseball in his chest.  Doctors were able to scope it out and he should be ready for the start of training camp at the end of July.

Ouch!  Hey, I’m very happy for him.  This could have not only derailed his rising career for the upcoming 2009-2010 season, it could have also caused immediate death had he been hit correctly in a game without this being detected.  The exam was a life saver and thank God for the mandated exam.

Of course if I am excited and happy for Iwebema, imagine the feeling he has?  I can’t even fathom what would have happened had this gone undetected.  Apparently it had been growing for a short period of time and given the growth rate, this man could have been dead from a direct hit on the playing field.  A regular physical, it is said, you know, the one you and I get yearly, would not have had these x-rays and could have gone undetected either for a longer period of time or not at all.  It would have been too late for you or I had this happened to us.  He had no symptoms, never felt ill or injured.  Amazing.

Good luck to him in his recovery and we look forward to seeing him on the field in Flagstaff.
