Monday Evening Quarterback

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Week three edition of Monday Evening Quarterback. The Arizona Cardinals once again proved the point Kurt Warner made after last week’s win over Jacksonville.  They need to play consistently well in order to win.  They can’t take a week off and expect to have wins handed to them.  The only consistency the Cards have achieved so far is inconsistency.  Do we really know more about this team tonight than we did before the game last night?  Maybe a few things. The positives: Receiver Steve Breaston showed no ill effects of his injury.  Neither did Anquan Boldin. Warner escaped the game [...]

Best and Worst of NFL

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

So with one game left this weekend, another Cardinals loss in the books and an almost sure bet the Dallas Cowboys will dispatch the Carolina Panthers.  What more do we know about the teams? The contenders: I think it’s safe to say the New York Jets are here to stick around for awhile.  After beating the New England Patriots last week, the Jets already brought a lot of fans on board.  After dispatching the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, they proved they could win even when not playing their best.  The Jets made a few mistakes that in the past would [...]

Cards Shoot Blanks on National TV Again, Get Whipped 31-10

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Should I even try to write a good wrap up of tonight’s game?  I don’t know.  Maybe I should just call it in.  The Arizona defense felt that was good enough tonight.  However, I’m better than that, at least I will still try, no matter how little the Cards do these days. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning dismantled the Cardinals secondary.  He consistently torched them.  He threw for 375 yards and 4 touchdowns.  I don’t know, is that good? On the flip side, Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner had a rough night.  He threw 52 times, which is way too many, [...]

Cardinals Mistakes Give Indy Momentum Heading to Halftime

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

The first quarter looked good.  The second quarter not so much. The Indianapolis Colts lead the Arizona Cardinals 21-3 at halftime.  The Cards led 3-0 about to make it 10-0 when Cards running back Tim Hightower fumbled at the Colts 5 and gave it back to the Colts, who drove 95 yards to take the lead and eventually build it to 21-3. The Cards at times look confused.  They did have a chance to score before halftime, however receiver Steve Breaston’s catch was not reviewed to see if he crossed the goal line.  A little disappointed at that.  Then on [...]

SNF Preview: Indianapolis Colts vs. Arizona Cardinals

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

First appearance for the Arizona Cardinals in the regular season on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.  First time the Indianapolis Colts have visited Arizona since 1990 and their first trip to University of Phoenix Stadium.  This will not be the first time I will mention Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and his hand signals. The Cardinals (1-1) host the Colts (2-0) at 5:20pm in a game that has been deemed a sell out and no blackout.  It might be the last non-blackout of the season.  For now though, let’s talk about this one. Much as been made about two things this week.  [...]

Around the NFC West

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

As the Arizona Cardinals get ready to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, I thought I’d take a look around the NFC West. San Francisco (2-0): The divisional leaders are on the road this week taking on Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Mike Singletary said they need to tackle better if they wish to stop Peterson at all.  It will be a tough test for Niners running back Frank Gore as well.  That’s a tough place to go on the road and run the ball. St. Louis (0-2): After almost pulling out the upset in [...]

The Great Roof Debate

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Should the roof at University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday Night be opened for the Nationally televised game on NBC against the Indianapolis Colts?  Normally, it would be closed, however for the first ever Sunday Night Football game for the Cardinals in their new stadium, there is the possibility they would keep it open.  The forecast high on Sunday is supposed to be 105, so don’t let today’s 97 fool you.  So, what do you think?  Should it be open.  Please sound off.

Wells vs. Hightower Debate

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Arizona Cardinals running backs Chris “Beanie” Wells or Tim Hightower, which one do you choose as your starter?  Do you go with both?  Is one better than the other?  It’s a debate you may be seeing played out for quite sometime I’m afraid. After week one, the debate was leaning heavily in favor of Wells.  He came in and ran off a couple of good runs.  He had 45 yards on 7 carries.  Hightower was more of a focus in the short passing game, which was great for all his 121 yards and 12 receptions, however his rushing left a [...]

Weekly Honor Bestowed on Calais Campbell

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for blocking a field goal that led to a Cardinals touchdown in the victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was Campbell’s first career blocked field goal.  It came on his second start ever as a defensive end.  However it was his special teams play that took center stage.  Go figure.  The play really changed the momentum of the game.  It went from a possible 10-6 game in the second quarter to a 17-3 game and the Cards never looked back. Let’s see a lot more of [...]

Cardinals’ Mike Bidwill Talks Economy

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, News, Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Cardinals President Mike Bidwill went on Fox Business News today to discuss the local economy and how it relates to the Cardinals.  I thought it was very insightful.  He does say that the Cardinals offer tickets as low as $25.  Yeah, not on Ticketmaster. Where are those tickets, in his pocket? I agree with some of what he said and some of what he said I thought was just public relations spin, but I do like the fact he was able to plug Sunday Night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
