No Surprise as Kurt Warner Retires

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner did it.  He retired on Friday as many suspected he would.  Now you can call him former Arizona Cardinals quarterback. In an anti-climatic press conference, Warner said he was ready to leave the game after 12 years of service in the NFL, mostly due to the fact he would like to spend more time with his family.  As much as it pains to see him go, he does leave the game on his own terms and although he did not get the Super Bowl win for the Cardinals fans wanted him to get, he [...]

Warner Press Conference at 1pm

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner will hold his press conference at 1pm today at Cardinals headquarters, where he is widely expected to announce his retirement from the NFL. Matt Leinart will take over, for now, as the new starting quarterback of the Cards.  Is this the right choice?  As of right now, I don’t see any better option.  He’s been on the sidelines watching Warner for the last couple of seasons and if he hasn’t learned anything at this point, then I don’t know what to tell you.  I will tell you though, unless he is traded, Leinart will get [...]

Kurt Warner set to Make an “Announcement”

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner announced today he is going to hold a press conference on Friday, at least according to his agent.  Nothing was stated as to the topic, however, rarely do you call a press conference if you are going to stay another year. My guess is he is set to retire and hand the reins over to Matt Leinart.  I’ve been reading some interesting thoughts about this subject.  I even read in one place about an Anquan Boldin and Matt Leinart to the Philadelphia Eagles for Donovan McNabb rumor.  That rumor was shot down by azcardinals.com blogger [...]

BREAKING: Bertrand Berry Retires

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Bertrand Berry announced his retirement this evening on “Big Red Rage”, his weekly radio show on 620 KTAR Sports. I was lucky enough to be a guest audience member thanks to KTAR earlier this season and meet Mr. Berry.  He is a class act and I personally wish to thank him for all the hard work he put into his Cardinals career. Berry, who is 34, said he has played his last professional game.  He spent the last six seasons of his career with the Cardinals. He is the first of what is expected to be [...]

Kurt Warner Retirement Watch, Day Five

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

No official word from Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner on whether he will retire or not yet.  I probably wouldn’t expect an answer in the next few days, but most likely before the Super Bowl is my guess. Based on comments he made to Rick Reilly from ESPN.com the other day, it certainly seems people have completely different takes on the meaning of his comments.  He said he wished God would take away his love for the game to make the decision easier.  To me, I don’t know what that means.  I hope it means he will stay, but ask a [...]

Saints Overpower Cardinals From Start, Cruise 45-14

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Playoffs, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It was never a contest.  Ok I take that back, it was for the first 19 seconds, which is all it took for the Arizona Cardinals to score their first touchdown.  After that, it was all downhill.   The New Orleans Saints cruised to a 45-14 lead.  Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was pressured all day.  He never had enough time to throw and consistently had pressure in his face and the Saints offense was obviously too much for a Cardinals defense that clearly needs help in the off-season.  A few observations: The Bryant McFadden era should be allowed to expire.  He [...]

Saints Proving To Be Too Much for Cardinals

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Too many mistakes, too little defense.  That’s been the theme so far as the Saints hold a 28-14 lead and driving for more.  Very disappointing the way the Cards came out on defense and the offensive line is giving Kurt Warner no time to throw.  I think the season may be drawing to an end very quickly….

Cardinals Strike First

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Playoffs, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Wow!  You couldn’t have asked for a better start.  Tim Hightower ran 70 yards to pay dirt to give the Cards an early 7-0 lead on the first play from scrimmage. Clearly, the Cards have brought their momentum to New Orleans.  Go Cards! Scott Allen

No Boldin, No Problem

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Playoffs, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Arizona Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin is not expected to play today when the Cards face the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome in Louisiana. Sure he is a weapon you’d love to have your disposal, no doubt.  He is a big part of why the Cards have had the success they’ve had this season and in past seasons.  However, after watching last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers, it is clear that Early Doucet is ready to step in as the number three receiver and elevate Steve Breaston to the number two, once this season has ended. Doucet had [...]
