Report: Kurt Warner to Retire

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Adam Schefter from ESPN.com is reporting that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner is going to retire after the playoffs are over. Warner is in the first year of a two-year contract.  After receiving a concussion in November against the St. Louis Rams, it isn’t as shocking as one might expect.  I am a little interested in the timing of the report.  Also, nothing had been reported on it prior to today. So it seems, regardless of a win or loss, today will be Warner’s final game at University of Phoenix Stadium. Let’s go get ‘em boys! Scott Allen

Arizona Hosts Green Bay for Wild-Card Sunday

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Playoffs, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Green Bay Packers are back.  We know what happened last week.  Much has been written about how good the Packers seem to be and how the Arizona Cardinals have no chance.  Virtually everyone in the national media has written the Cards off today, although the odds makers in Vegas are still on the Cards side – barely. The Cardinals need to get off to a fast start.  They also can not allow Green Bay to get to one of their own.  If the Packers Ryan Grant gets off to any kind of start with the running game, it might [...]

Arizona-Green Bay Winner Gets New Orleans Next Week

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Playoffs, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Thanks to the Dallas Cowboys win tonight over the Philadelphia Eagles, the winner of tomorrow’s Arizona Cardinals- Green Bay Packers game will be on their way to the Superdome in New Orleans. I don’t know about you, the way the Saints are playing right now, might not be such a horrible proposition.  First thing is first though…we need to beat Green Bay, who has owned us.  No easy task.

NFC West About to Add a Carroll

Pete Carroll that is, as in USC’s Pete Carroll. The Seattle Seahawks, who just fired head coach Jim Mora yesterday, is now reportedly offered the position to USC head coach Pete Carroll.  Interesting move.  I was a little surprised by the move to fire Mora yesterday given he only had one year after the departure of Mike Holmgren.  Mora had a really banged up team in 2009, much like Holmgren did in 2008 in his final season.  However, after winning division titles in four straight years, now the Seahawks have had to watch the Arizona Cardinals take the division now [...]

Cards Predictions Re-Visited

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

When the 2009 NFL schedule was released in April, I made my predictions game by game.  How did I do?  Close on some, not so much on others. Week 1 – vs. San Francisco April prediction: Arizona will open for the fourth consecutive time against San Francisco.  The last two have been in San Francisco.  Good way to start the season with a victory at home against a quality divisional opponent. Postseason analysis: Well the game was a little closer than expected I guess.  The Niners came out of the gates strong, won 20-16. Predicted record: 1-0 (actual 0-1) Week [...]

Cards Could Be Better Off On Road

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Playoffs, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Green Bay Packers are coming to town on Sunday for a little playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals.  Not sure if you knew or not.  Thought I would mention it.  However, are you like me and get the feeling the Cards could be better off playing on the road rather than at home? The Cards, who finished 4-4 at home, 6-2 on the road, during the regular season, have seemed to be more comfortable away from the confines of University of Phoenix Stadium this season.   Logic says you play all season to get that home field edge.  Hardly anything [...]

Cards Let Packers Feel at Home, Lose 33-7

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Whatever the explanation is, whatever the reasons, it was disappointing to see the Arizona Cardinals come out and basically mail it in on Sunday in a 33-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The loss gives the Cards a 4-4 home record for the season.  They’d be better off playing on the road in the playoffs.  However, with the win, they clinched the NFC’s 4th see and another game against the Packers next weekend at University of Phoenix Stadium. The Packers played their starters for three quarters and the Cards from 1-2 quarters on Sunday.  Even before the starters were [...]
