Cards Preseason Schedule Released

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The 2010 NFL preseason schedule was released today and I like what I see for the Arizona Cardinals. They open the preseason with a home game against the Houston Texans.  In the second week, on August 23rd they will face the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Monday Night Football on ESPN.  The round out the month of August with games at the Chicago Bears and home against the Washington Redskins. I love the idea of finishing the preseason with the Redskins.  I know it’s still the fourth game of the preseason and practically no one of any consequence will play, [...]

Trouble Starts Early For Porter

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

That didn’t take long. The newest member of the Arizona Cardinals, Joey Porter, formerly of the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early Saturday morning in Bakersfield, California of all places. First of all, I knew it would be trouble on the field by signing Porter.  Now, it seems trouble off the field has followed as well.  Is it too late to void the contract?  I don’t care how good the Cards think he is, the fact is the Cardinals over the past three seasons have been trying to change an image.  Now, the [...]

March Madness, Arizona Cardinals Style

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

With March Madness now in full swing and on to the Sweet 16, I thought it would be a good idea to see who you think is the best Arizona Cardinals player since 1988 when the franchise moved to the desert.  I am going to start with the quarterback regional, followed by the wide receiver/running back/tight end regional, then the defense regional, then finally the special teams/offensive line regional.  Your votes will determine the winners. Over the past few days, we had all #5 seeds handle the #12 seeds. Today we have the #6 seed vs #11 seed matchups: #6 Josh [...]

Derek Anderson Joins the Cardinals

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Not sure if the Arizona Cardinals could have fared better, at least in free agency, when they signed former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson to a contract today.  I am not throwing a party based on the move, however I am also not against it either.  I think the addition of Anderson, who was a Pro Bowler in 2007, is a good move and gives competition to Matt Leinart.  Anderson has had a rough couple of years in Cleveland, particularly in 2009 when he shuffled in and out of the lineup along with Brady Quinn, who also left Cleveland, via [...]

With March Madness right around the corner, I thought it would be a good idea to see who you think is the best Arizona Cardinals player since 1988 when the franchise moved to the desert.  I am going to start with the quarterback regional, followed by the wide receiver/running back/tight end regional, then the defense regional, then finally the special teams/offensive line regional.  Your votes will determine the winners. Over the past few days, all #3 seeds moved on except for our first upset of the tourney, #14 Ronald McKinnon upset #3 Karlos Dansby.  I have a feeling some animosity [...]

2010 Academy Award Predictions

AUTHOR: | IN: Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tonight we have the 2010 Academy Awards to look forward to.  With a little help from my wife, who has seen all 10 best picture nominees, I’m adding my predictions for tonight’s awards presentation on ABC. Best Picture: The Hurt Locker – supposedly the current front runner.  I know how Oscar voters are and they will marvel all over Avatar, which is visually stunning, but overall The Hurt Locker provides a compelling story and is entertaining to watch. Best Actor: Jeff Bridges – I have not personally seen the performance but from the sounds of it, if Bridges doesn’t take [...]
