Leinart is Cardinals Starter

According to Fanster.com, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart has been named starting quarterback.  This is not a move that was unexpected.  After OTA’s this week, not much else going on between now and training camp.

The Cards have a quality backup in Derek Anderson should something happen to Leinart or Leinart fails in his attempt to take over the reins of this team.  I don’t know if I’ve heard or seen enough good things to declare Leinart the starter, however it is nice to have a named starter before camp starts in Flagstaff.  Of course this was the case two years ago as well.  Leinart was going to be the starter, even after Kurt Warner had rejuvenated himself in Leinart’s injury shortened 2007 season.  However Leinart didn’t perform well and the job was Warner’s, one he held until his retirement several months ago.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt may have declared Leinart the starter and you have to believe him because that’s what he believes today, but I wouldn’t go holding your breath it will remain that way.
