Avoiding the Major Injuries
This time of year, it’s what we all fear the most, major injuries, you know, the preseason-ending kind, especially the season-ending variety. Go on injured reserve, the only thing that player will be reserving is a spot on next season’s team. Some teams have been hit hard already. Just go check in on the Denver Broncos. They took big hits the first week of camp, including losing Elvis Dumervil for the season. The Arizona Cardinals avoided major injury over the first week plus of training camp. Then, Monday afternoon practice happened. Beanie Wells was not expecting a hit, and bam….gets [...]
Regarding Matt Leinart
It’s been 10 days since the Arizona Cardinals held their first practice and many people have already chimed in on what they think about current starting quarterback Matt Leinart. Word is, he doesn’t look so great in practice so far, although he has appeared to improve somewhat over time. As Ron Wolfley, Sports 620 radio host and Cards radio color analyst, puts it, he is what appears to be a “gamer”. That means he is someone who is a much better player on Sunday’s rather than the rest of the week. Does it matter if he is any good in [...]
Russ Grimm Inducted Into Pro Football Hall of Fame
He may have never played a down with the Arizona Cardinals, however, we are all still proud of Arizona Cardinals assistant head coach Russ Grimm in his induction into the Hall of Fame this weekend. Congrats! Grimm, who was introduced yesterday in Canton by his former coach and former Cardinals head coach Joe Bugel, played 11 seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins from 1981-1991. He was a member of the famous “Hogs”, the menacing Redskins offensive line of the 1980′s. Grimm is the first “Hog” to be inducted in Canton and every bit deserving. He made the Pro [...]

The Arizona Cardinals have their first week of training camp in the books. Tomorrow is the annual scrimmage on the fields east of the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff. The scrimmage starts at 9:15, but you’d better be there well before that. There is an autograph session with the players before hand. They are expecting 10,000-15,000 people. Good luck. Around the NFC West Camps
So, with the Arizona Cardinals players participating in their first of two night practices at camp, it’s time to see what the other NFC West teams are doing in their first week of camp. San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary is moving practice on Thursday to Cal-State Monterey according to ESPN’s Mike Sando. St. Louis Rams cornerback Ron Bartell sprained his ankle in practice and should only miss one to two weeks of practice according to stltoday.com. Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry is still suffering from a concussion suffered in practice on Saturday, however, he will get some extra rest, [...]
Player Profile: Dan Williams
First-round draft pick Dan Williams is in camp after signing his contract a couple of days ago. He is trying to get used to the elevation in Flagstaff after two days of practice with another on the way this evening. The question is, did he already miss too much time or is the nose tackle just fine and poised to even start a few games this season? Williams, from Tennessee, had 70 tackles last season as a senior and that’s what has impressed Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt the most. He says that proves he is very active on the [...]
Williams Signs Contract; Other Cards Camp News
Arizona Cardinals first round pick Dan Williams has signed his contract and is expected in camp this evening. This is great news! He is the last of the draft picks to sign. This is a great testament to current Cards management to ensure they are doing everything possible to win. By getting Williams in camp tonight, he will have only missed three practices, which is already too much for a rookie. Either way, this is great news. Other news today: Cards practiced inside this morning due to rain. Quarterback Matt Leinart is already hearing it from fans. Chants from fans [...]
Cards End Up Inside On Rainy Day
The Arizona Cardinals ended up inside The Skydome for practice on Sunday afternoon as yet another day of rain in the Flagstaff area sent everyone for cover. Not a lot of news today, but according to Darren Urban from azcardinals.com, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie looked very good. Also, he blogged just a few bang-ups here and there, but no other serious injuries to report. A couple of reporters including Urban, and Mike Sando from espn.com talked about Darnell Dockett and the possibility of a contract extension. They report that coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated an extension was possible this season. Stay tuned to [...]
