NFLPA Making No Further Statements Today

I wonder if we would be hearing about a player vote today on the new CBA if Myra Kraft, recentley deceased wife of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, wasn’t having her funeral today?  NFLPA President Kevin Malwae indicated this morning that he would be making no further comment today.

"“There will not be any further NFLPA statements today out of respect for the Kraft family while they mourn the loss of Myra Kraft” – Kevin Malwae"

While I think that is a truly nice gesture on the surface and trust me, I’ve seen several very nice comments by players about Myra Kraft over the past couple of days, which based on what I read about her, is completely warranted.  However. to me, this is just an convenient excuse not to vote.  It’s that plain and simple.  As ESPN’s John Clayton said, just “shut up and vote”.  I truly believe if this was an issue, Kraft would not have cast his vote yesterday in the owners vote.

So, it appears the Arizona Cardinals will not be in their Tempe facility tomorrow.  In fact, base on the past couple of days, it seems as if the players are in no hurry to get things done and I will not be shocked if we start eliminating some preseason games soon.  That in fact will start happening if there is no agreement by next Wednesday.  If it gets that far, I see no reason why the players don’t drag this thing well into August.
