BREAKING: Ryan Williams Likely Out for Season
Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams is likely out for the season after injuring his knee in the 28-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers Friday night. Williams had to be carted off the field. It is believed he ruptured his patella tendon.
1. Can the Packers repeat, even if they get hit by the injury bug once again? The answer that everyone is giving to this question is a resounding yes. The Packers have depth at most positions that is serious … they will be releasing players in the next couple of weeks that will be snatched up by other teams in a heartbeat … believe me, other teams are watching closely and waiting to pounce. However, with that said, we all know how difficult it is to repeat in the National Football League. In fact, take a look at the statistics [...]
Improvement Will Need to be Seen Against the Packers
Tomorrow night is the second preseason game for the Arizona Cardinals. They play the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin in what could be a pivotal game for many players trying to make the Cards roster. It is also a chance to for the Cards to work on many area where improvement needs to be seen and quick. Only two more “practice” games left after Friday night.
This Friday night, the Arizona Cardinals will be playing the Green Bay Packers, and many sportswriters will be talking about that classic playoff matchup a couple of years ago between the two teams. I’ll be thinking about Early Doucet…
Preseason Week Two Upon the Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals had their final practice of the week today in Flagstaff as they get ready to travel to Green Bay for a game Friday night against the Green Bay Packers. It’s preseason, so not to make too much out of nothing, but it is still going to be a good test to see where the Cards stand at this point of the preseason. The regular season is now only three weeks away.
No Receiver Worries for Coach Whisenhunt
Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt once again sat down wiht the media to answer questions about the fact the Cards do not have a legitimate number two receiver. He seemed to disagree with that notion. He thinks the number two just may be on the current roster. Ok, so in my opinion, he had to be talking about tight end Todd Heap, because there is no way anyone else is ready, are they?
New Kickoff Rule Leaves Some Complaining
The Chicago Bears tried to get away with kicking from the 30 during their preseason game this past weekend. Nice try. The new NFL rule that states that teams must kickoff now from the 35 instead of the 30 is leaving some players, coaches, and fans wondering if it is the best thing for the game, even if the NFL says it is in the best interest of safety.
Around the NFC West
So how did the rest of the NFC West fair this weekend in the first preseason games? We know what the Arizona Cardinals did in defeating the Oakland Raiders 24-18. The Seattle Seahawks looked ok in defeating the San Diego Chargers 24-17. The St. Louis Rams defeated the Indianapolis Colts 33-10, and the San Francisco 49ers got beaten by the New Orleans Saints 24-3. Not sure what to make out of any of it except none of it counts, but they play them anyways.
Another Weapon at the QB Position
On the first offensive series of downs in the Arizona Cardinals first preseason game, Kevin Kolb went back to pass–and when he couldn’t find anyone open, scrambled for a very nice run.
Cardinals Return to Practice on Sunday
The Arizona Cardinals return to practice on Sunday after their game Thursday night against the Oakland Raiders. The Cards are lucky to get out of Oakland relatively unscathed as far as injuries go. Tight end Todd Heap sprained a thumb but he will not miss any time. Other than that, it was good to get out of dodge without injury to quarterback Kevin Kolb.
