Cardinals Focus Now on Carolina

The preseason is over.  The regular season game-planning begins.  The first NFL week has already started for a couple of teams, the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints, as the prepare for the season opener in just five days from now.  The Arizona Cardinals start eight days from now at home against the Carolina Panthers.  Start planning now.

Easier game on the schedule or not, it is a new season for all.  Everyone is tied in the standings at 0-0.  Until someone loses, you assume all teams have a shot at the Super Bowl.  Realistically, the Panthers are not one of those teams, but this is why they play the games.

Cam Newton, the Panthers first overall pick in the draft, will be the starting quarterback.  He played his last college game in the same stadium he will play his first professional game in.  He won that last game.  It will be much tougher for him this go-around.

As for the Cardinals, they know who their quarterback is too.  Kevin Kolb is about to play his first full game for the Cards next week.  It will be interesting to see him have his weapons in Larry Fitzgerald and Todd Heap as his full disposal for 60 minutes.  The Cards still have some questions, some of which may be answered this week, such as the depth at corner back and running back.

Eight days.  It will go by fast.  Can’t wait.
