So, enough about the Baltimore Ravens. It’s time for the Arizona Cardinals to look forward to the St. Louis Rams. The Rams are coming off their first victory of the season. They are now equal with the Cards at 1-6. You also have teams looking at quarterbacks going in possibly opposite directions. Rams QB Sam Bradford is possibly coming abck from injury and Cards QB Kevin Kolb just suffered a Turf Toe.
No More Sugar Coating, Arizona Cardinals are a Bad Team
For weeks I’ve been saying be patient. The close losses mounted early but the Arizona Cardinals seemed to just be a few plays away from being not great, but good. Then came the blowout in Minnesota, but again, preaching patience as the Cards still had plenty of season in front of them. Even after last weeks loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was, well, the Steelers and there were plays to be made left out on the field. Then, there was today. The Cards jumped out to a 24-3 lead late in the second quarter over the Baltimore Ravens and [...]
Cardinals Heap, Porter Among Inactives
The Arizona Cardinals inactive list include former Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap today. Unfortunately we will not get to see Heap face his former team. It may have been the only opportunity in his career to face his former mates. He is still nursing a hamstring injury. As for the other inactives, they include FS Kerry Rhodes, LB Joey Porter, WR Stephen Williams, OT D’Anthony Batiste, QB Richard Bartel, and DE Ronald Talley.
Cardinals Beanie Wells is Active
ESPN reports that Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells is going to be active today against the Baltimore Ravens. Now the big question will be weather he will get any kind of extensive playing time. Wells is nursing an injured knee. Well was injured during some point of the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. He isn’t sure when or how it happened.
Cowboys Cut Tashard, Would be Wise Choice for Cardinals
There is another running back on the free agency market today and the Arizona Cardinals should look long and hard at him. The Dallas Cowboys cut starting running back Tashard Choice today in a surprise move. To me, the move wasn’t so much as surprise as the action as it was the timing. Of course the Cowboys had a record setting performance from Demarco Murray last Sunday and that I’m sure helped lead to the decision. It is interesting that it came on a Saturday though. My guess is the Cowboys still think Choice has something and they didn’t want [...]
Game-Time Decisions Loom for the Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals have several players awaiting their playing fate this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Todd Heap, Beanie Wells, and Joey Porter are all going to be game-time decisions. I think what that means in Cardinals-speak is that none of them will play and should all be considered out. I think the Cards like to lead fans and media on. I get not wanting to tip your hand, but we know how this will all come out.
Cards Abdullah Does the Right Thing
Arizona Cardinals safety Hamza Abdullah has stepped up. The other day I mentioned how he should look at himself in the mirror before blaming Cards fans for the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. After re-reading comments, I don’t believe he was blaming the Cards fans however calling them out and saying the Cards need Cards fans, not opponent fans in University of Phoenix Stadium. I called on him to do something. Apparently, he had already beaten me to the call.
The Arizona Cardinals have probably played their easiest part of the schedule at this point. Now they must fly off to face the Baltimore Ravens. Then they come home to face the St. Louis Rams, which should be a bit of a break, but then three straight road trips to face the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49′ers, and St. Louis Rams. Even though Philly has struggled and Baltimore looked pretty bad offensively against Jacksonville, it is still pretty much a schedule of mostly horror the next month with four of five on the road. First up though, the Ravens.
Arizona Cardinals safety Hamza Abdullah had the guts to do something few athletes do, to call out his own fans. As we all know by now, this past Sunday University of Phoenix Stadium more resembled Heinz Field in Pittsburgh with all the Terrible Towels being waved around like it was cool. Abdullah actually had the audacity to say he was disappointed in the Birdgang (the affectionate name for Cards fans). He said the team thrives on its home fans to help them win. While it was embarrassing to a point, at times, on Sunday, Hamza you are dead wrong to [...]
Six Observations About the Cardinals-Steelers Game
1) Kevin Kolb was doing his best impression of Derek Anderson against the Steelers. There were several overthrown passes–most notably to Rob Housler and Larry Fitzgerald when they were wide open. On some of these passes, Kolb wasn’t even pressured. It seems that Kolb has gotten worse, not better, as the season has progressed.
