A Look Ahead to Cardinals – Steelers in Week Seven
The Arizona Cardinals are 23-31-3 all time versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cardinals will need everyone on the same page this Sunday in order to even have a shot at beating the defending AFC Champions. The Steelers all-pro strong safety Troy Polamalu, who left last Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with concussion-like symptoms, was cleared to play this week. Even more of a reason for the Cards to focus on the task at hand. No breaks. If you ask the Cards, they probably wouldn’t ask for any either. They need to come out and prove they can beat the [...]
Back in 2007, the Arizona Cardinals were 1-2 headed into week four of the regular season. Coming to town? None other than the Pittsburgh Steelers. That is when the Cards last played the Steelers. The Cards ended up winning the game 21-14. It was a coming out part for receiver Steve Breaston. This week, I can see the same type of thing happening. Right now, the Cards are 1-4.
Cardinals Beware, the Niners are for Real
I guess the best thing you could say about the Arizona Cardinals and their current state of standing in the NFC West is that they still do have two games against the San Francisco 49′ers. They will have to win both games to even entertain staying in the NFC West race. No split, nothing else other than a sweep. The Niners proved they were for real today (if they already hadn’t done so), with a 25-19 win against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The win puts the Niners three and a half games up on the Cards.
The Arizona Cardinals are off on the bye this week, however there are two other NFC West teams that are scheduled to play in week six. The Seattle Seahawks are also off this week. The San Francisco 49′ers and the St. Louis Rams are both in action though in big games for both. While the 49′ers have a chance to create more room between themselves and the Cards, the Rams will be looking to just get a win. They are win-less going into week six. After this week, only the Niners will still have the bye remaining.
The Arizona Cardinals brought quarterback Kevin Kolb in via trade from the Philadelphia Eagles with the hopes he would end up being the best quarterback in the NFC. Now, as we sit just before the start of week six of the NFL, Kolb isn’t even the best quarterback in the NFC West. That title belongs to Alex Smith of the San Francisco 49′ers. Alex Smith? Yep, that’s right with his quarterback rating of 104.1, Smith is hands down the best quarterback in the NFC West. Kolb has a rating of 77.2.
With the San Francisco 49′ers and St. Louis Rams playing this weekend, the Arizona Cardinals have a shot at slipping further behind the 49′ers. As for the Rams, they have a shot at getting their first win and tying the Cards for last place in the NFC West. The Seattle Seahawks are off this week as well as the Cards. The Niners might have a problem though. They head to face one of the two remaining unbeaten teams in the Detroit Lions this weekend. The Lions are 5-0. With the way this season has gone though, all bets are off.
The way the Arizona Cardinals have come out and started off their season, at 1-4, if Las Vegas had such a bet, I’m sure these guys would be underdogs to the bye week this Sunday. Luckily for them, they do have the bye week this week. I know everyone hates going into the bye with a loss. I’m not a fan of it either. However, the bye week probably came at the right time. They have no winning momentum to kill. They can get their stuff straight and come back next week to prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers on October [...]
Cardinals Punt Graham, Add Considine for Safety
Ben Graham, ciao. The Arizona Cardinals cut their punter for the Minnesota Vikings game after signing him last week due to an injury to punter Dave Zastudil. Graham was cut in order to add free-agent safety Sean Considine. Considine played in four games for the Carolina Panthers this season. Considine was such an unknown to me to be honest, I thought he was a punter replacing Graham. I think the problem with the press release is that the Cards failed to mention the status of Zastudil. The punter position is in limbo I guess.
11 Observations About the Cardinals-Vikings Game
Well, another Sunday…and another Arizona Cardinals loss. Are you detecting a pattern here? This time the Cardinals did not have to worry about losing a lead in the fourth quarter; in fact they never had a lead and never were close. I had such high expectations for this team at the beginning of the season, and the Cardinals have disappointed me terribly in the last four losses. It was particularly painful watching this game. Here are my observations about the game:
No Luck for Cardinals Fans Calling for Some
I hate to break it you everyone, the Arizona Cardinals are not in the so called “Suck for Luck” sweepstakes. For everyone calling for John Skelton to finish out the season and for the Cards to go after Andrew Luck with the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, you can forget it. It’s not happening. They have a lot invested into the Kevin Kolb. Yes, the way Kolb is playing right now is disappointing, frustrating, add your own adjective. Let’s remember this – he’s only been an Arizona Cardinal since the beginning of August. He did not get the [...]
