Many Arizona Cardinals Fans Have Exciting Yet Misguided Passion

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone, Off-Topic, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

It is nice to sit here for a change and to see NFL fans in the Phoenix area passionate about the team that plays here, not Dallas, not Oakland, not Pittsburgh, not New York.  I’ve read and heard a lot of comments about this years Arizona Cardinals team that tells me people are watching, but not really tuning in.  There is a lot of passion out there, especially when it comes to the quarterback situation.  Should it be Kevin Kolb?  Should it be John Skelton?  It seems many fans have an opinion one way or the other.  However, I read [...]

Arizona Cardinals Get Three Players in Pro Bowl

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday, News, NFL, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

So, the Arizona Cardinals do have some good players as it turns out.  In fact, based on votes from fans, their peers, and their coaches, three of them had Pro Bowl seasons.  Receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Safety Adrian Wilson, and Cornerback/Punt Returner Patrick Peterson all received invites to this years party in Hawaii.  Congrats to all three.  The Cards managed to get more players to big game than the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, and Houston Texans.

Two Records Still Could be Set by Cardinals Players in Week 17

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Arizona Cardinals final game against the Seattle Seahawks will be a meaningless contest from the standpoint of making the playoffs.  However, there are two season records that Cardinal players could set: 1) Calais Campbell could set a season record by blocking another field goal (one more would make it four for the season). 2) Patrick Peterson could set a season record for most returned punts for a touchdown (one more would give him five). Peterson may sit out the game with a strained Achilles heel.  And who knows how many field goal attempts the Seahawks will even attempt and [...]

Cardinals Fall Short in Pulling Off Christmas Eve Miracle Against the Bengals

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season | COMMENTS: None Yet

It looked awfully familiar.  Three terrible quarters by the offense, and a fourth quarter comeback.  The Cardiac Cardinals were going to tie up the game against the Bengals — and win yet another overtime thriller, right? Wrong! This time the Cardinals dug themselves in too big of a hole against the Bengals.  And while it’s true that the botched snap at the 1-yard line (which forced the Cardinals to kick a field goal) and Early Doucet tripping over his own feet both cost the Cardinals dearly in this game, I think the game was lost with John Skelton‘s three interceptions [...]

Cardinals Playoff Chances Disappear With 23-16 Loss to Bengals

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, at least they kept it interesting until the end.  However it is the end of the winning streak and the run for the NFC Playoffs for the Arizona Cardinals as they lost 23-16 to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday afternoon.  In what started as possible blowout turned into another thriller at the end.  The Cardinals trailed 23-0 going into the fourth quarter and had two shots to tie the game in the final minutes.  The Bengals tried really hard to keep the Cards in the game.

Arizona Cardinals Have a Disaster of a First Half

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Arizona Cardinals plain and simple missed the plane to Cincinnati.  The Bengals are up 20-0 at halftime and quite frankly, the game isn’t even that close.  The Bengals missed two field goal attempts, so it could be worse.  What is worse though is the play of quarterback John Skelton.  He’s been awful.  Don’t know what he’s been looking at out there, but he obviously thinks the Cards receivers wear the striped orange uniforms. The way things are going, there just won’t be any comeback in the second half.  I think right now, they re-group and just keep from getting [...]

John Skelton Gets the Christmas Eve Call for Arizona Cardinals

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone, Gameday, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

Merry Christmas everyone.  The Arizona Cardinals are on the road on Saturday to face the Cincinnati Bengals.  It is the first road tilt for the Cards since November 27th against the St. Louis Rams.  The Cards have won four straight and will need to go for five in a row with backup quarterback John Skelton once again.  Kevin Kolb is still nursing his concussion from two weeks ago.  It is most definitely the right move if Kolb is not 100 percent.  Let’s just not anoint Skelton a savior just yet.  Maybe just the Miracle Man.  If he can get a [...]

Daryl Washington Leading the Cardinals Defense

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season | COMMENTS: None Yet

He is listed at 6-2 and 230 pounds, but if you ask those players who have been met head on and tackled by Darryl Washington, they’ll tell you it’s like running into a brick wall. Washington is probably the biggest reason why the Cardinals defense has been playing so well.  He is leading the team in total tackles with 84, and also has four sacks and two interceptions so far this year.  He has been all over the field — plugging holes, covering receivers, and assisting on tackles. Cardinal fans were worried last year when a linebacker wearing #58 bolted to play [...]

Arizona Cardinals Should Have No Quarterback Controversy

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Once again, I sit here and defend Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb.  Why are people so dang impatient?  We waited 20 years for a winner in Arizona.  From 1988-2008, no division titles.  Then we win two in a row and we all get so spoiled.  Why can’t we wait one more?  When Kolb went down with an injury after starting 1-6, John Skelton came in.  He’s certainly done more than an admirable job filling in, going 5-1 in his games.  Kolb has won the one game he’s played since returning and then getting injured again.  Kolb still, in my opinion, [...]

Cardinals Playoff Chances: Simple but Improbable

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s simple, really. The best scenario that might vault the Cardinals into the playoffs is the following: The Cardinals win their last two games.  And the Lions lose their last two games. Alternatively, the Falcons can lose twice instead of the Lions — and the Cardinals would get into the playoffs that way as well. There is also another less likely scenario where the Cardinals make the playoffs –  which involves the  Cowboys, Giants, and Cardinals all making it to the postseason. The problem, of course, is for any scenario like this to actually happen.  Highly improbable. Next week [...]
