Cards Draft Pick Bethel Someone to Jump For

Sep. 17, 2011; San Francisco, CA, USA; Presbyterian Blue Hose cornerback Justin Bethel (26) returns an interception for a touchdown against the California Golden Bears during the second quarter at AT

When I first heard the pick in the sixth round, Justin Bethel out of Presbyterian, I was like who?  Then it became clear.  The man is an athlete.  He blocked nine kicks on special teams for the Blue Hose.  It might be just what gets him on the roster.  Sure, he is a safety as well.  I’m not sure he possess the skills to make the Cards roster as a safety, although he would certainly be a backup if needed.  Special teams is where it’s at.  The kid can also jump a 60-inch vertical.  Some people say big deal.  I say wow.  You have to have some kind of strength to make that happen.
