Cardinals Sign Michael Floyd and Jamell Fleming, All Picks Signed

The Arizona Cardinals now can get to the business of winning on the field.  All of their 2012 draft picks have been signed after agreeing to terms with first-round pick Michael Floyd and third-round pick Jamell Fleming on Monday.  This is great news!  No contract distractions heading into training camp.

Floyd signed a four-year contract with an option for a fifth.  Fleming got a four-year deal.  Floyd will be a starter on the other side opposite Larry Fitzgerald.  Fleming will contend for a starting spot in the defensive backfield.

I am just plain giddy about Floyd.  He was the guy I wanted the Cardinals to draft back in April, even if Justin Blackmon had been available.  Floyd has great leaping ability and has the better future upside as far as I’m concerned.  He also has his off-field distractions further behind him.  Blackmon is still creating trouble and concerns.

Everyone is concerned with the Cards quarterbacks getting the ball to Floyd.  I think they will be just fine.

As far as Fleming goes, even if he doesn’t crack the starting lineup right away, he adds depth to an area depleted by injury last season.  Again, the Cards made good here.  I can’t wait for training camp!
