Things are going to have to be pretty bad on the home front if the Arizona Cardinals find their way to Richard Bartel again this season. Bartel behind center means Kevin Kolb and John Skelton are either injured, ineffective or both. Nothing against Bartel, but he’s not the answer. There are worse number three quarterbacks though. Bartel made his way into two games in 2011. I’m hoping for zero in 2012.
Bartel was 10-22 for 86 yards with one touchdown and one interception in his limited action last season. There is a strong possibility rookie Ryan Lindley could beat him out for the number three if the Cards feel Lindley has progressed past the point of a practice squad player. The problem with putting Lindley on the practice squad is another team could sign him.
Bartel still though could find his way on the roster. That’s the beauty of the preseason. You can find a lot out about someone fighting for a spot on the team.
