The Cardinals got their guy.  The guy that wanted running back Adrian Peterson.  In not such shocking news, the Arizona Cardinals today named their Vice President of Player Personnel Steve Keim as their new general manager on Tuesday, replacing the recently fired Rod Graves.  The only suspense was who would name Keim their general manager first, the Cards or the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The Cards beat them to the punch.

Keim brings familiarity to the organization.  You have a guy who was highly coveted by others but brings his knowledge of the inner workings of the Cards organization.  I think right now that is more important than anything else.

Keim will be tasked with many things this off season.  The Cards still have to find a head coach.  They have free agency coming up in March, not exactly one of Graves’ strengths.  The  there is the draft in April.  Word is Keim wanted Adrian Peterson a few years ago when the Cards drafted Levi Brown instead.  He was overruled.  I don’t know how true that is but listening to others it very well could be.  Either way, we don’t have him and now maybe Keim can draft players he wants and improve a team that has had a non-winning record over the last three seasons.
