Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu, who just signed his rookie contract, is reportedly going to face multiple drug tests from the NFL each month.  He could face as many as 10 tests.  As far as I’m concerned, this is a non-issue, as long as he stays clean.

It comes as no surprise to myself and shouldn’t to anyone else either.  Mathieu and the Cardinals were aware this was coming.  Mathieu has entered the NFL’s drug-testing program.  The biggest concern of course is, can he stay clean?

Since the day he was drafted back in April, he has said and done all the right things.  It will be interesting to see if he can continue those actions once training camp and the regular season get going.  I know a lot of people outside of Arizona are betting against him as if they’d love to see him fail.  It makes no sense.  I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as long as he is clean.

The Cards trust Mathieu and that’s what I care about the most.  He has no chance if the organization he plays for doesn’t start off with trust from day one. Now he is going to get many chances to prove he is trustworthy.  Here’s to believing in Mathieu!
