The Arizona Cardinals rookies visited the Arizona Diamondbacks before their game against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night at Chase Field in Phoenix.  The ceremonial first pitch was thrown out by safety Tyrann Mathieu.

Cards VP of Media Relations, Mark Dalton, tweeted out a picture of Mathieu warming up with D-backs pitcher Josh Collmenter down in the tunnel under the stadium.  Matheiu and linebacker Kevin Minter, both from LSU, got a chance to meet up with D-backs pitcher and fellow LSU Tiger Will Harris as well.

All 28 rookies were honored prior to the game, including the 19 undrafted free-agents.  It was a nice gesture on the D-backs part to invite them all to the game on Tuesday night.  Hopefully the Cards return the favor at some point.  Either way, it is nice to see the local teams supporting one another.  Hometown teams should always stick together.

I think it was a great idea to have Mathieu be the one to throw the first pitch out.  From all accounts he has been doing everything the right way since being drafted.  He’s got a long way to go in proving himself on and off the field, however at this point how can anyone complain.  Clearly he is fitting in with the locker room so far, at least amongst the rookie class.
