While training camp starts most likely a couple of weeks before the preseason starts (camp dates have not been announced yet), as of today we are 47 days away from the Arizona Cardinals first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.  While it is just preseason, it will be the first game action of the new regime.  It will be our first chance to see Carson Palmer as the quarterback of the Cards in game action.

Cards head coach Bruce Arians said earlier this week he was excited to have Palmer as the Cards starting quarterback.  You know I am too given what transpired last season.  Anything is better than last season.  The quarterback situation was so bad in Arizona last season I was even jealous of what they had in Kansas City.  Yeah, it was that bad in my opinion.

The Cards have a lot of work to do in order to be competitive again but I truly believe they’ve at least given themselves a chance to not only be competitive in 2013 but win some games along the way.  Look at last years team.  They had virtually no offense and yet still won five games plus should have won about four or five more.  Yes, the schedule might be a little tougher this season but I see the toughest games on the schedule being at home as opposed to the road last season.

Last year they got Green Bay, Atlanta, New England on the road.  They won in New England and should have won in Atlanta.  This year they get teams like Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Houston at home.  It is an advantage no doubt.  That is why I give this team a fighting chance to make it to eight or nine wins.  Is that enough to make the postseason? Probably not given the division they are in, however it is a step in the right direction.
