The Arizona Cardinals could improve their football team with a few remaining free agents. Some of these names may be on their short list, but the Cardinals also might just wait until an injury forces their hand. The remaining free agents could be had at the minimum salary more than likely depending how long they go without a job.

John Abraham: I realize he is aged at 35. He could still help this team at a position of need along the defensive line. I would like to see an aggressive line of Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett, and Abraham. Those three rushing the passer could be a scary sight. However, Abraham probably holds out for Atlanta and eventually resigns there.

Nick Barnett: Barnett isn’t a flashy player. In fact, he is just simply a good overall defender at outside backer which is what the Cardinals could use. The current outside backers on the roster are either young or riddled with injury issues. Barnett could provide some veteran leadership to the young guys like Sam Acho and O’Brien Schofield.

Kerry Rhodes: I know, this may not be a popular choice depending who you talk to. I cannot fathom why Rhodes still hasn’t latched onto another team. It is not like he was showing signs of slowing down. Rhodes, arguably, had his best year in 2012 for the Cardinals. I believe his release was salary motivated and with Rhodes still looking for a job, maybe his price tag has come down.

Any of these guys could help the Cardinals on the field in 2013. However, I actually don’t believe any of them will be on the Cardinals. It simply is not the way the new regime of Steve Keim and Bruce Arians are going to do business. I also can’t say that I am upset with that. Unlike the old regime, if an injury occurs and a free agent could help, we will see Keim make moves.
