All of the off season attention has gone to the higher draft picks in this years draft, and expectations are high for players like Jonathan Cooper, Kevin Minter and even Tyrann Mathieu, but the sleepers in the draft usually step up unexpected during training camp.

One player that has been really impressive to me in camp has been 7th round pick tight end DC Jefferson out of Rutgers University. I have been to all of the training camp thus far and I watch this kid make some terrific catches in traffic, reaching up high, and going down low.

The first 4 days of camp Jefferson was getting reps with the third team offense with Ryan Lindley at quarterback, he must been turning eyes of the coaching staff because today in day five of camp Jefferson got some reps with Carson Palmer and the first team, he caught one 15 yard crossing route with a defender all over him.

This kid is huge at 6-6 255lbs with a 34 1/4 arm length and looks like a beast on the field,   very strong and athletic and can run fast for a big man. Jefferson was later seen on second team running a deep sideline route that was over thrown by quarterback Drew Stanton.

It’s probably not in the cards for this kid to make the 53 man roster, but if he impresses like this continually it will be really hard to keep him off the field. My prediction will be he will be a stand out player throughout preseason, and we will hear his name more and watch his stock rise throughout the NFL.
