Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams is running out of opportunities, opportunities to make the 2013 roster.  Once thought to have the potential to set the league on fire the only thing being fired could be Williams himself.  According to arizonasports.com, he is going to get a last chance this week against the Denver Broncos.

Williams, who had a season-ending knee injury in 2011 in the preseason and then suffered another season-ending injury in just the fifth game of 2012 knows his time in Arizona is starting to come to an end.  Not even a great performance Thursday night may save his job.  He missed much of training camp and hadn’t played until late in the San Diego Chargers game this past Saturday night.

It is a shame.  I really wanted to see Williams shine here in Arizona.  Personally I’d love to see him on the roster for the regular season no matter what has transpired this preseason.  However the fact is, he needs to be ready and available to play.  The Cards have a sense of urgency to improve and make progress on offense now.  They don’t have the luxury of waiting around to see what happens with Williams.

So, the last train has arrived for Williams.  It’s up to him to decide if this train keeps chugging or if it rides into the sunset.  Minds may already be made up amongst the Cards brass but at least they are giving him this opportunity.  Let’s hope he makes the most of it.
