The Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams have released their inactives for their week one matchup this afternoon at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.  The Cards have a couple of surprises for fans today.  There is a running back on the inactive list.

Cards  inactives: RB R Williams, CB Fleming, LB Okafor, DT Ta’amu, T Massie, G Watford, TE Housler

Rams inactives:  Darian Stewart, Quinton Pointer, Cory Harkey, Jonathan Stewart, Barrett Jones, Brandon Washington, Gerald Rivers

The Cardinals not playing Ryan Williams is a bit of a surprise.  Word is apparently it has to do with special teams play, as all the other backs can contribute on special teams.  What may even be more interesting is who is not on the inactive list.  Quarterback Ryan Lindley is active Sunday afternoon.  That means the Cards have all three of their quarterbacks active.  I sure hope they aren’t planning on injuries.

Other than Williams, no real surprises on the inactives.  Maybe Massie, however someone has to be inactive.  We already knew Housler was out as of Friday.  The absence of Williams also means maybe we see a little more from Andre Ellington.  It’s just a guess on my part however.  If special teams is a factor however, you have to wonder just how many Sunday’s Williams does make it onto the active roster?
