Arizona Cardinals Need To Be Wary Of Trap Game

It’s easy to sit here and say what an easy time we all expect the Arizona Cardinals to have this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  They are nine point favorites.  NINE!  On the road nonetheless!  It is a rarity to see such a thing.  It is also the perfect recipe for disaster.

The Cards have made one trip to the east coast this season against a lesser opponent and barely got away with a 13-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  They faced a rookie quarterback that played very well for his first career professional start.  They had to come from behind to pull that one out late.

The one thing I will say the Cards have working in their favor is that the Jags won their first game last week on the road against the Tennessee Titans.  I can’t express enough words that say how happy I am that the Jags were able to get their first win before they played the Cards.  In a way this makes them less dangerous but also more dangerous.  It makes them less dangerous because now the Cards have the Jags on tape playing winning football.  It is dangerous because it has every making of a trap game.  The Cards can’t go in thinking this one is in the bag.

As infrequently the Cards are huge favorites on the road, especially on the east coast, it could be really easy for the Cards to go in over confident and beat themselves.  I have faith that head coach Bruce Arians won’t allow that to happen but then again these are the Arizona Cardinals.  We should find out a lot about the character of this team on Sunday.  Bring it on!
