You knew as an alternate, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald would eventually get into this year’s Pro Bowl game, given that two teams representatives couldn’t attend.  Fitz will replace Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in the game, which is this Sunday January 26th on NBC.  Thomas is going to the Super Bowl with the Broncos.

Many say they think that Fitz doesn’t belong this year, however I think his 10 touchdowns speak for themselves.  He reached 10 touchdowns for the fifth time in his career.  He is only the ninth player to reach 10 touchdowns in at least five seasons.  That sounds like a Pro Bowl player to me.

Fitz is going to his eighth Pro Bowl, his seventh consecutive.  The seven consecutive trips to the game also set an Cardinals record.  He had 82 receptions for a total of 954 yards in 2013.  His longest reception was a 75-yard touchdown he caught in San Francisco back in October.  He improved in number of receptions, yardage and touchdowns in 2013 over 2012.  It goes to show you what having a quarterback will do for you.  It also helps to get your number one receiver more involved in games.  That was an issue early on with Cards quarterback Carson Palmer but the two worked it out and Fitz went on to a terrific season.
