Judging by the reaction I’ve read by fans this week in regards to Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald’s participation in ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue, you’d think this was the most disgusting thing people have ever seen.  I believe the point was meant to be the exact opposite.

Listen, I get many guys don’t want to see that kind of stuff but you know what?  It gets people talking.  I don’t sit there and stare at the pictures (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but the point is these are very much in shape human beings.  I don’t know if it’s jealousy or what.  I’ve never seen so much negative reaction to the issue.  Maybe that’s because local athletes haven’t made this issue in the past?  I don’t know what the answer is.  I do know this, I have no problem with it.

Fitzgerald is proud of his body and he should be.  ESPN likes to showcase our athletes in this manner.  I think it’s great.  Both male and female athletes alike are in the issue.  If you don’t like it though, don’t read the magazine.  It really is that simple.  People have made much ado about nothing with this.  Let it be.  Now, if we could just ask ESPN to remove Colin Kaepernick and Richard Sherman.
