Reports earlier this morning out of Arizona Cardinals training camp was that linebacker John Abraham was expected to return to camp today after missing the first two and a half weeks due to personal reasons.  Per Cards head coach Bruce Arians, that return will not happen today.

Abraham, who had 11.5 sacks last season in his first with the Cards, was arrested in Georgia on a DUI recently.  Although the Cards never announced the specific reason why he was away from camp other than it was personal, it is suspected the reason why he has missed camp was because of this issue.

The Cards need Abraham to return soon.  There is just under a month to go before the regular season opener at home on Monday Night Football against the San Diego Chargers.  Already losing Karlos Dansby and Daryl Washington on the inside at linebacker, Abraham’s contributions are necessary on and off the field.

Abraham, who is going into his 15th season in the NFL, was thought to be spiraling on a downward trend when he was with the Atlanta Falcons.  However he was a huge surprise for the Cards last season and it is that kind of production that fans want to see again and quite frankly the Cards need again with the sacks and hard hitting.  In addition to his sacks he also forced four fumbles last year.  Stay tuned to move developments on this.
