The Cardinals head into their final preseason game having lost their last two preseason games by a combined eight points.  This week though will be a little different.  None of the Cardinals starters will play.

Rookie quarterback Logan Thomas will be given the reigns for the entire game.  Pay close attention because it is probably the last time you see him in game action until next preseason.  Thomas was fantastic in his first game against the Houston Texans but struggled a little bit last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The biggest competition left is at wide receiver.   The question will be whether the Cards will carry five or six receivers heading into the regular season.  They most likely go six with the last spot up for grabs between Brittan Golden and Walt Powell.

Also look at the offensive line, defensive line, and defensive backs as positions still facing competition according to Cards head coach Bruce AriansNate Potter and Bradley Sowell are most likely fighting each other for one spot.  Sowell hasn’t had a great preseason and played particularly poor against the Vikings.  There are still a number of guys playing for backup positions in the defensive backfield.

As for the Chargers, don’t expect them to show much and not much from the Cards either for that matter.  The Chargers just lost second-year tackle Kwame Geathers to a knee injury last Sunday that put him on Injured Reserve for the season.  Both teams will play each other just 11 days later in the season opener at University of Phoenix Stadium on Monday Night Football.
