It has been a butler kind of day at Arizona Cardinals headquarters in Tempe on Tuesday.  They released punter Drew Butler and signed linebacker Victor Butler.  They also released linebacker Marcus Benard.

If the math is right, then that leaves one roster spot open and that will presumably be for linebacker John Abraham, who returned from his time off to contemplate retirement.  Abraham decided on Monday to return to the team.

Drew Butler replaced punter Dave Zastudil the past two weeks due to an injury.  Zasty was active for the Monday night opener against the San Diego Chargers but only as a hold for rookie kicker Chandler Catanzaro.  He was inactive this past Sunday against the New York Giants because of the necessity for the active roster spot for other positions. Butler had a punt blocked against the Chargers.

As for Victor Butler, he is a linebacker out of Oregon State.  He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth-round of the 2009 NFL Draft.  He played backup to DeMarcus Ware.  He spent 2013 with the New Orleans Saints.  He has 89 career tackles and 11 career sacks.
