The Arizona Cardinals have placed linebacker John Abraham on injured reserve.  The move ends his season.  He had just returned to the Cards on Monday after taking last week to contemplate retirement.

Abraham suffered a concussion in week one against the San Diego Chargers.  The next day he announced he had been suffering memory loss for the better part of the last year.  Cards head coach Bruce Arians indicated he had lost some desire to play the game although Arians said the video of his play proved otherwise.

The Cards were hoping to get him back this week after exhibiting a poor pass rush the first two games.  Abraham had 11.5 sacks last season.  However he had not been able to pass his concussion tests this week.  In the end this is the best move for Abraham and now maybe you do see that retirement from him.  To fill the roster spot, the Cards re-signed punter Drew Butler, which is another interesting move in itself.
