The Arizona Cardinals couldn’t muster up much of anything on offense in the second quarter and trail the San Francisco 49ers 14-6 at halftime.  Unfortunately the Cards defense spent most of the first half on the field trying to chase down Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick is 14-18 for 116 yards and a touchdown.  He also ran the ball nine times for 45 yards.  Right now, the Cards have no answer for him, although they were able to avoid further trouble by finally stopping him right before halftime.  Running back Carlos Hyde also had a six-yard touchdown run.

As for the Cards offense, quarterback Drew Stanton hasn’t played bad but has again done just enough to not turn the ball over.  He hasn’t made the best decisions so far.  Andre Ellington has carried the ball seven times for 25 yards.  Receiver Michael Floyd has two catches for 49 yards.

The only offensive scoring for the Cards had been two Chandler Catanzaro field goals.  That won’t cut it.  Especially against a very good team like the Niners.  The Cards need to come up with points on sustained drives and give the defense some rest or this game will be over in a hurry.
