The Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers don’t like each other very much.  That is obvious on the field.  It is only natural that it spills off the field to with fans.  Many fans of both teams don’t like each other either.  Then you have the inevitable fight or two in the stands when the teams get together.  Yesterday was no exception.

During the Cardinals 23-14 victory over the Niners yesterday, a fight broke out amongst Cardinals and Niners fans in the upper deck of University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.  It was caught on video by a spectator.

I wasn’t there so I’m not going to speculate on who was at fault because there are good and bad apples with both fan bases.  However judging by this video it appears Niners fans were knee deep in this one.  You do see a Cardinals fan trying to help security break up the brawl after the participants roll down the stairs.  However the Cards fan was helping by punching the Niners fan to get off the choke hold of the security officer.  Not exactly the way to help out and as you saw, his buddies had to pull him off.

There is no place for this kind of stuff from either side of the fence.  Just go to the game and enjoy it.  You’ll always hear jawing between the fan bases but no reason for it to escalate into what it did here.  I can’t speak for Niners fans but I know Birdgang is better than that.  One fan was arrested in this brawl.  No word on if it was a Cards or Niners fan that was arrested.
