Arizona Cardinals Antonio Cromartie Coming Up Roses

The Arizona Cardinals have Patrick Peterson at cornerback but so far in 2014 it is the other starting corner making the plays

It was fairly exciting the day the Arizona Cardinals signed cornerback Antonio Cromartie in the off-season as a free agent.  Many fans, including myself, felt that Cromartie would be a great compliment to cornerback Patrick Peterson.  It actually has been the opposite in 2014 so far.

More from Cardinals News

Cromartie had his first two interceptions of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday but he’s been all over knocking balls around.  He has nine passes defensed this season.  That’s the same amount of passes he defensed last season with the New York Jets in a full season of 16 games.

Cromartie really only showed any type of struggle in the game at the Denver Broncos.  Even then he managed to defense three passes that day.  It was actually during that game I felt Cromartie might do big things here.  He slightly injured himself in that one as well but came back.  He’s tough.

He hasn’t had more than four interceptions since  2007 when he had 10 of them with the San Diego Chargers. This feels like a season he could rival that.  I don’t think he gets 10 only because he has guys that back him up that play more than a usual backup.  He has Jerraud Powers playing behind him and he’s played great at times as well.  Cromartie though is setting himself up though to show he is the same guy the Chargers got back in 2006.
