The NFL got a little richer and made a couple wallets lighter on Friday

The Arizona Cardinals victory over the Philadelphia Eagles was a hard-hitting one.  Cards cornerback Patrick Peterson left with concussion symptoms.  Safety Tony Jefferson left with a concussion.  Safety Deone Bucannon had his helmet come off on the hit that involved Peterson and Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin, who also left the game but came back.  Now, the NFL has reviewed the game film and handed out a couple of fines.

Cards cornerback Jerraud Powers was fined on Friday $16,537 for a horsecollar tackle.  Also fined was Eagles defensive end Trent Cole.  He was fined $22,050 for a hit on Cards quarterback Carson Palmer’s head.

In that hit where Bucannon’s helmet came off, he was not fined.  It was his hit that caused all three players to go down.  Bucannon was the only one who did not need to be taken to the locker room on the play.

As for Powers it is good he was only fined.  He has been a huge reason for the defensive success early on in the season.  He has 27 tackles and three interceptions.
