Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton went down Thursday night with an apparent knee injury

For the second time this season, a quarterback went down for the Arizona Cardinals against the St. Louis Rams. Drew Stanton injured what is described as a knee injury in their 12-6 win on Thursday night.  Now, the world thinks they are NFL general managers and think they know what is best for the team. That means here comes the Kurt Warner lovers again.

More from Cardinals News

Last night I talked about the ridiculousness if wanting guys like Tim Tebow or JaMarcus Russell.  This morning I’ve even heard the name Donovan McNabb rolled out there.  However ever since 2010 when he retired, one guy’s name always comes up.  Kurt Warner.  Some guys joke about it and you know who they are but there are people who are dead serious about it.  Please.  Just stop.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you who is the best guy to bring in but I won’t.  I don’t know.  I’m not in that locker room.  I do however have my pulse on the NFL and the experts and analysts. I have heard what Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has said recently and in the past.  I also go by current fact.

Fact: Kurt Warner is not coming back.  He’s been out of football for five seasons now and is a semi-finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  He even said on Twitter last night he’d come back if he could.  He is not in shape.  Even if just for the playoffs?  No.  He’s 43 years old.  No.

I love Warner too my friends.  But no.  If you are serious about wanting him back, then you don’t know football.  You don’t know the toll it takes on a body.  For a 43-year old to come off the street and get  into football shape in basically two weeks is just not happening.  It doesn’t matter who the guy is.

I get there aren’t a lot of options but it is so much easier to say who doesn’t fit than it is to say who would fit.  I’ll leave that evaluation up to the team but any thought on Warner should just stay a fantasy unfortunately.
