Arizona Cardinals: A Look At 2015 National TV Possibilities

The NFL Preseason schedule was released on Thursday with the regular season schedule close behind

When the preseason schedule was released earlier on Thursday it immediately, at least for me, shut the door on 2014 and every step forward toward the 2015 season.  We know the Arizona Cardinals preseason opponents now.  Next up is the regular season schedule announcement which should come within the next week or two.

The Arizona Cardinals have a very good schedule in terms of opponents in 2015, both at home and on the road.  With one of their preseason games slated for national television on NBC and coming off an 11-5 season and a playoff berth and most of the main pieces returning for the Cardinals, there is a good chance the Cardinals will end up on national television three or four times in 2015.

They were on national television three times in 2014 in the regular season.  They lost their preseason national television game on NBC against the Cincinnati Bengals and their postseason playoff game to the Carolina Panthers on ESPN.  In between was an ESPN Monday Night Football game against the San Diego Chargers, a Thursday Night Football game against the St. Louis Rams on NFL Network, and a Sunday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks.  The Cardinals were 2-1 in the regular season national games.

So what’s on tap for 2015?  At home in addition to NFC West foes Seahawks, Rams, and San Francisco 49ers the Cardinals have games against the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and New Orleans Saints.

On the road they have the Seahawks, Rams, 49ers, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Philadelphia Eagles.  That’s a tough road but every game is winnable for the Cardinals.

So which games will end up on national television.  Here are my predictions.  I made some in January as well but now that I know the NFL and networks are looking at them again with the scheduling of the NBC game in August, these are my newest predictions.

Home: San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football, Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football

Away: Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football

I think if they got three coming off a 10-6 non-playoff season, then I will go out on a limb to say the Cardinals will make four national telecasts in 2015.  Keep in mind these are just predictions.  I don’t know anything in regard to the schedule ahead of time.  Based on the schedule I think any opponent could end up on the national television schedule.  I can’t wait to find out along with the rest of you.
