Arizona Cardinals Preseason Schedule Released

The Arizona Cardinals will face the entire AFC West in the 2015 preseason

Not much imagination went into the scheduling of the 2015 preseason for the Arizona Cardinals.  In a year where they just got done playing the AFC West in 2014, they will again face every team from that division in the 2015 preseason.  Two games will be at home and two on the road.

The Cardinals will start off the preseason with a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs.  The Chiefs came into University of Phoenix Stadium in December and lost to the Cardinals 17-14.  The game will take place between August 13th and 17th.

In week two of the preseason the Cardinals will again be at home, this time against the San Diego Chargers.  The Chargers came to University of Phoenix Stadium in the 2014 season opener.  The Cardinals defeated the Chargers 18-17.  The game for preseason week two will take place between August 20th and 24th.

Week three sends the Cardinals on the road.  On Sunday August 30th, the Cardinals will head west to face the Oakland Raiders.  This game will be nationally televised on NBC Sunday Night Football.  The Cardinals were last season’s NBC Sunday Night Football preseason game as well, at home to the Cincinnati Bengals.  The Cardinals defeated the Raiders last season in Oakland 24-13.

Week four of the preseason will send the Cardinals on the road as well to play the Denver Broncos on either September 3rd or 4th.  The Broncos are a familiar foe in the last week of the preseason.  The Broncos gave the Cardinals their first loss of the 2014 season 41-20 after the Cardinals lost quarterback Drew Stanton to a concussion.  Quarterback Logan Thomas threw his only NFL touchdown to date.

The game against the Broncos will be the 10th time in the past 12 seasons that the Cardinals have ended the preseason with their neighbors in Colorado.  Its maybe the least exciting game of the season for fans but the most important for players still battling for spots on the final 53-man roster.

The choice to put the Cardinals game at the Raiders on NBC, preseason or not, is an interesting one.  You won’t get any complaints from me but you might from NFL fans in general.  There are three other national games that weekend.  There are a couple of games that aren’t that might have been more attractive for NFL fans such as Indianapolis Colts at St. Louis Rams or New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers.  I think we’ll see enough of the Colts and Pats in the regular season, so I can’t blame the NFL for choosing this game.
