Arizona Cardinals and other NFL rookies began a week-long Rookie Symposium on Sunday

All this week Arizona Cardinals and other NFL rookies will be attending the NFL’s Rookie Symposium.  The event began Sunday June 21st and lasts through June 27th.  It is an opportunity to teach rookies about what to expect leading up to their entry into the NFL.  It also gives them information on mental health and wellness.

Another part of the program is to give the players an education on the NFL’s stance on what has unfortunately dominated the NFL headlines over the past year or so, domestic violence.  It is a sad commentary on current affairs but this is a must.

More from Cardinals News

The group of rookies the Cardinals have don’t appear to be the kind that will create or get into any trouble.  However a year ago we could probably have said the same about guys like Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, and even no former Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer.

Current rookies on the roster include:

CB Cariel Brooks, TE Gerald Christian, T Rob Crisp, ILB Alani Fua, OLB Markus Golden, DE Rodney Gunter, WR Trevor Harman, T D.J. Humphries, ILB Edwin Jackson, RB David Johnson, S Harold Jones-Quartey,  ILB Andrae Kirk, RB Paul Lasike, ILB Gabe Martin, WR J.J. Nelson, S Brandon Person, WR Damond Powell, OLB Shaquille Riddick, CB C.J. Roberts, WR Jaxon Shipley, QB Phillip Sims, TE Gannon Sinclair, OLB Zack Wagenmann

It may be that only a a few of these guys make the final roster but it is still important for each to attend.  This may not be the last camp a lot of these guys attend.  I’m all for the mental well being of NFL players and it is commendable that the NFL holds this symposium.

This is the last activity any Cardinals player is scheduled for until training camp reporting date on Friday July 31st.
