Player profile of DE Calais Campbell as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with DE Calais Campbell.  Campbell enters his eighth season in the NFL with the Cardinals.

2014 season: Campbell certainly had a nice season in 2014 but he’ll be the first to tell you it should have been so much better.  He accumulated seven sacks last season.  However there was one game alone in November against the Seattle Seahawks where he left three sacks on the field and let get away.  He played in just 14 games last season after getting injured in Denver against the Broncos on an illegal chop-block.  Oh wait, Denver said it was all legal (the incident is also believed to have gotten me blocked on Twitter by the Broncos).  Campbell also had an interception in that game.  He had 58 tackles on the season.

2015 season projection: Bigger and better things await Campbell.  He has some more help coming in on the ends to maybe take some pressure off but if I know Campbell he’s going to be pushing harder in 2015.  He has 15-20 sack potential.  His career high is nine in 2013.

Campbell not only is an asset on the field but off.  He showed that in his appearance on Celebrity Family Feud this past Sunday evening.  He is very personable and is all about the fans.  He can bring it on Sunday’s though and I know Birdgang expects just that.  I think he gets 13 sacks this season.  He won’t be leaving three sacks out there every week.  It should be fun to watch.
