Player profile of S Tony Jefferson as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with S Tony Jefferson.  Jefferson enters his third season in the NFL with the Cardinals.

2014 season: Jefferson played in all 16 games for the Cardinals last season, starting eight of them.  He had 79 tackles with one sack, one pass defensed, and one forced fumble.  His lone sack was a big one in the Cardinals 23-14 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Glendale last September.

2015 season projection: Jefferson should see more starts in 2015 if Deone Bucannon truly does get moved over to linebacker.  Either way, he will see a lot of playing time.  He’ll be very active again.  Having 79 tackles in a part-time role last year is saying something.

Tony Jefferson to me used to be just a great depth guy but now going into his third season more will be expected after the good 2014 season he had.  I think you will see more from him.  He probably gets his first NFL interception and I imagine he easily beats last year’s 79 tackles.  You will hear his name a lot on Sunday’s this fall.
