Player profile of C/G Ted Larsen as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with C/G Ted Larsen.  Larsen enters his sixth NFL season, his second with the Cardinals.

2014 season: Larsen’s name was called often in 2014 but it wasn’t always good.  It wasn’t always bad either but let’s just say the Cardinals went looking for free agent offensive linemen for a reason.

2015 season projection: Larsen will mainly compete with A.Q. Shipley, who was signed as a free agent from the Indianapolis Colts, for the starting center position.  I do predict Shipley will win that spot and that will leave Larsen as a backup at both center and guard.  I think Larsen will be on the final 53 but he’s more of a depth guy than a consistent productive starter.

As you can see, people were predicting his departure from the team long ago.  I don’t blame them at all.  Honestly I thought at times last season he could have easily been cut during the 2014 season.  He’s just not consistent enough but people think Larsen has a shot to win the starting center job.  We’ll see is all I can say.  Based on previous performance I would say Shipley is the guy right now.
