Player profile of CB Jimmy Legree as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with CB Jimmy Legree.  Legree spent the entire 2014 season on the Cardinals practice squad.

2014 season: As stated, Legree was on the practice squad from the time he was cut at the end of the 2014 training camp with the Cardinals.  He originally started with the Seattle Seahawks but was only there several days before the Cards signed him.  He was cut on August 30th and then re-signed to the practice squad.

2015 season projection: Legree has work to do.  He is behind Patrick Peterson, Justin Bethel, Jerraud Powers, and Alfonzo Dennard on the depth chart.  Some thought he might make the active roster last season but he did not.  He is back to try again.  At this point I will reserve my prediction on him.  I want to see if he can compete in the preseason and then make a determination but I’d say his chances are better this season having the one year of practice squad behind him.

So head coach Bruce Arians likes him already, so he does have that going for him.  Unfortunately it may come down to a numbers game.  If he doesn’t make the team I do think he’s one of the last guys cut before the 53-man roster is finalized.
