The Arizona Cardinals begin their training camp schedule which will take them through the whole month of August

After a long offseason, the Arizona Cardinals begin their training camp schedule today with the veterans reporting. A lot of intriguing battles will take place during camp this year including the battle for the third quarterback job, center and nose tackle position on the offensive line, outside linebacker and many more.

With today being just the day veterans report, not all of the team is present, but let’s take a look as to who has showed up so far:

Drew Butler who started every game last season (including the playoffs) is heading into camp battling veteran Dave Zastudil for the punting job. As of now Zastudil is favored to win back his job.

Not much needs to be said about a healthy Carson Palmer who looks ready to go and pick up where he left off.

Tyrann Mathieu a.k.a the Honey Badger says he’s starting to feel like the player he was when he was a rookie. Mathieu is expected to start at free safety this season.

Alex Okafor was a pleasant surprise last season as he finished the season with 8 sacks. He will be facing competition at the outside linebacker position, presumably from LaMarr Woodley. Under the guidance of veterans Calais Campbell and Patrick Peterson, expect Okafor to hold his own this season.

Head coach Bruce Arians will be keeping a close eye on the competition during camp, and will most likely be the reason we see a revamped Arizona Cardinals team this season.
