Player profile of CB Jerraud Powers as Arizona Cardinals training camp continues

As we have reached the end of the third week of Arizona Cardinals training camp, we continue our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with CB Jerraud Powers.  Powers enters his third season in Arizona with the Cardinals.

2014 season:  Powers started making a name for himself last season, especially with the struggles that corners Patrick Peterson and Antonio Cromartie had at times.  He ended up playing in all 16 games, starting 11 of them.  He finished the season with 53 tackles, three interceptions, and one sack.  He also forced one fumble.

2015 season projection:  Powers is currently listed at the top of the depth chart opposite Peterson.  He is competing with Justin Bethel for the starting spot.  Bethel played well in the first week of preseason but the depth chart remains unchanged for the moment.  My best guess is Powers will officially win the starting spot however Bethel will see plenty of time on the field as well.

Powers sat out last week against the Kansas City Chiefs since he sat out practice somewhat last week.  As for Saturday night against the San Diego Chargers, it is assumed he will play.  It will be his opportunity to help solidify his spot at the top of the depth chart.
