The Arizona Cardinals lost three players during the 19-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers

The Arizona Cardinals won their game on Sunday but may have lost a few players in the process.  Last week the Cardinals lost a number of players during their win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Earlier on Sunday before the game against the San Francisco 49ers I said if the Cardinals could just get out of Santa Clara unscathed.  Well, that wish didn’t hold true.

The Cardinals lost cornerback Jerraud Powers to injury and had to be replaced by Justin Bethel.  Powers was first feared to have injured an Achilles, however after the game coach Bruce Arians said in his post-game interview that he just pulled a calf.  How much time he misses is unknown.

The more serious injuries though are to the Cardinals top two running backs.  Chris Johnson left Sunday’s game with an injured knee and Andre Ellington left with an injured foot.  Both left for the locker room under their own power.  The television broadcast showed Ellington taking off his shoe and sock and being looked at and then later putting them back on.

The Cardinals can ill-afford lengthy injuries to either running back and sure can’t lose both of them for any extended amount of time.  It has been the Cardinals balanced offensive attack that has lead the Cardinals to their number-one offensive ranking in the NFL.

Both Johnson and Ellington are scheduled for X-Rays and MRI’s when they return to the Valley.  If both are to miss time, it will be up to rookie David Johnson to take up the slack.  You will also likely see Kerwynn Williams added back to the roster as well if both are ruled out.

The Cardinals got receiver Michael Floyd back on Sunday but did not factor into the game.  He was seen in the game sparingly.  He was targeted twice and did make one 14-yard catch.
