The Arizona Cardinals will select 29th in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft

Of course every mock draft, every written piece about the Arizona Cardinals and the draft and free agency is all just a guess until it is actual news, something actually took place.  Until then we all make guesses.

Some guesses are based on facts of what people inside the organization have hinted and obvious need.  Some guesses are solely based on opinion.  That’s how most guesses are formulated.  Here are some guesses about what the Cardinals may or may not do and what they may or may not be looking for in this year’s draft.

The Cardinals will not draft a quarterback

They don’t need to.  I’ve seen guesses and wishes from many, including some of our own writers.  It’s what makes the predictions fun.  You never know what will happen.  My best guess is though the Cardinals skip the whole quarterback thing this year.  Now in 2017?  That might be a whole new ballgame.

The Cardinals have Carson Palmer for at least two more years.  While there does need to be some sense of urgency in planning there doesn’t need to be in selecting.  The class of 2017 for quarterbacks actually looks better than this year.  They will not reach for Jared Goff or Carson Wentz or any other quarterback in the first or any other round.
